Dry Branches (2018), acrylic on canvas, A1.
Part of a dry tree in front of a clear blue sky – capturing the calm after a storm. The day before this was painted, the area I was in was under threat of bushfires, and it was only the beginning of summer. There were plenty of ‘fuel’ in the surrounding areas that could be burned up. This artwork is about capturing that vulnerability. Made from 6 A1 sized, handmade stencils, the ‘Dry Branches’ is intent on being rough and tough whilst also being open and vulnerable.
